Our adventure starts in Lima, the capital of Peru. Then, we will continue to Cusco, the Capital of the Inca civilization. It offers a unique combination of colonial and religious splendors built on the hefty stone foundations of the Incas. After spending the first days exploring Cusco we head over the legendary Inca Trail. The Inca Trail is the most famous trek in South America and deservedly so, with three major sets of Inca ruins reachable only on foot along the way to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Machu Picchu. With each step we will appreciate the ingenuity of the Andean people, to survive in this harsh environment and to work the granite rock-forming this incredible path through the mountains. Leaving behind them evidence of their greatness.
