Our adventure starts in Cusco, the capital of the Inca civilization. It offers a unique combination of colonial and religious splendors built on the hefty stone foundations of the Incas.
After spending the first days exploring Cusco we head over to Puerto Maldonado and the Rainforest for a further four days of activities and excitement.
Tambopata is one of the most biodiverse areas in the world, thanks to the variety of well-preserved habitats on it.
There are more than 1,000 species of butterflies, 100 species of mammals, 600 species of birds, and hundreds of species of trees and plants!

Departure	Every day. Since we start in Cusco, if you arrive from other cities please do it before 11 am so you have a few hours to get used to the altitude.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Full day tour

AM - Arrival and transfer to your hotel. PM – Early in the afternoon you will be taken on a half day City Tour & Nearby archaeological sites. The Cathedral, impressive because of its paintings from the Cusco school. The Qorikancha (Sun Temple), This enclosure was the most important religious building during the Incas time. After that, you will visit four archaeological sites surrounding the city of Cusco; Sacsayhuaman, Q´enqo, Pukapukara & Tambomachay. Overnight in Cusco.

Day 2: Cusco/Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

AM - Breakfast. Today we will visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting the complex of Pisac on the way, located 33 km/ 20 miles from the city of Cusco, we will also visit its famous artisans market. Lunch is included at a local restaurant in the Sacred Valley. PM – After lunch, we will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo (an important fortress, due to its great surrounding walls). Train to Machu Picchu (approx. 1hr30min). Arrival and transfer to your lodging there. Overnight in MachuPicchu.

Day 3: Machu Picchu to Cusco

Early breakfast. We will pick you up early in the morning to board the bus up to the mountain. Arrival and guided tour of one of the most awe-inspiring places in the world "Machu Picchu". As a supremely religious site, Machu Picchu demonstrates the superior knowledge achieved in agriculture, astronomy, and astrology. PM - Return to Cusco by train, arrival, and transfer to the lodging. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 4: CUSCO / PUERTO MALDONADO / RAINFOREST

AM – Breakfast and transfer to the airport. Domestic Flight tickets from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado are included. Arrival and transfer to the Rainforest main office for a briefing. Next, we will drive 20 kilometers to the Tambopata River Port, entering the Native Community of Infierno. After lunch, we will board and take the forty-five minutes’ boat ride from the Tambopata Port to Posada Amazonas, taking us into the Community´s Primary Forest Private Reserve. Upon arrival at the lodge, the manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips. After you have settled in we will take a twenty minute walk from Posada Amazonas to the 30 meter scaffolding canopy tower. A bannistered staircase running through the middle provides safe access to the platforms above. From atop you obtain spectacular views of the vast expanses of standing forest cut by the Tambopata River winding through the middle Once this tour has concluded, dinner will be served back at the lodge. DAY 5: RAINFOREST

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included today. The activities will be coordinated in advance the night before. Today, you will be transferred to Refugio Amazonas lodge and you will spend the next nights there. Accommodation: Refugio Amazonas Lodging

DAY 6: RAINFOREST

DAY 7: RAINFOREST / PUERTO MALDONADO

Breakfast. - Desayuno. The activities will be coordinated in advance the night before. Later you will transfer by boat from Refugio Amazonas to Tambopata River Port. Upon arrival in Tambopata River Port you will go to Pto Maldonado Headquarters. From the Pto. Maldonado Headquarters we make our way to the Airport. We retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures.

Location

Cusco City: Located between sacred mountains, such as "Apu Wanacahure" where according to the legends the empire was founded, Cusco offers a privileged geographical scenery, of beautiful landscapes; its cultural coalition Andean-Hispanic, has determined very special characteristics in its architecture and population.   Walking around the Historical center of Cusco we can enjoy Inca walls, numerous buildings of two styles: Inca and Spanier.  The Qoricancha temple is an example of syncretism, during the Inca´s time it was the most important religious building - it was the temple of the Sun; now it is the Santo Domingo Church.

Sacred Valley of the Incas: Located 15 Km. north of Cusco, it is one of the most productive/fertile and extensive valleys in the area, that is why it's called "The Sacred Valley of the Incas". During the Inca times, this Valley was the main agricultural area, because of the excellent climate conditions, very fertile lands, and the sacred river, that is why we find such amazing terraces between Pisaq and Ollantaytambo archaeological sites.

MachuPicchu: Located 112 Km. (70 miles) from Cuzco. This wonder of the world has an all package: Nature + history + spirituality + energy and more.  Even when we are still studying and trying to find the "history" of it, MachuPicchu - as a masterpiece - tells you his history in every step, through every wall.  At the citadel, we can find two -  perfectly separated - areas: the -Agricultural & the religious. Walking on it you can fill the high sense of spirituality that inhabits this place, it seems to transport its visitors to a place where everything "in an unimaginable way" is possible. It is a place where strange forces of nature allow the individuals to reach an incomparable cosmic state, a state that can only be experimented with in Machu Picchu.

Tambopata: This place harbors some of the wildest, least impacted habitats in the Amazon and the world. Tambopata is a river, a province, and a national reserve. It is reached through the gateway city of Puerto Maldonado and is directly adjacent to another great nature destination: the Bahuaja Sonene National Park. And, Tambopata shares visits with two other good destinations of the Peruvian Amazon: Manu and Iquitos. Most people know Tambopata because of the Tambopata River and the huge Tambopata National Reserve that protects it. Tambopata is also one of the provinces of the Amazonian state of Madre de Dios (or “Mother of God”).
